ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT

WORKING AND RESPECTING THE EARTH

VINCI Construction Terrassement is firmly committed to a sustainable development policy. In this field as in others, the company’s philosophy is a “global” one. Whatever the project, we adopt a global vision of how our intervention will impact the surrounding: we analyse the environmental constraints and implement appropriate solutions to avoid or at least reduce as much as possible the footprint on the landscape, fauna and flora. Thus, for each site, partnerships are established with environmental associations, and the preservation of biodiversity is at the heart of our concerns from the design phase of the project. Workis planned to consider nesting and breeding periods. Resettlement areas are created, as well as the on-site living species habitats are identically restored. In sum, a soil remediation work is systematically performed to make the site “clean” and “healthy”.

VINCI Construction Terrassement aim to fully involve the supply chain in our safety Culture. In 2017, VINCI Construction Terrassement signed an innovative partnership agreement with our two main temporary employment agencies in France; Adecco and Proman, improving our leadership in the safety approach of the industry.  With a shared process, we ensure that all of our temporary employees are fully trained and go through an induction process: New starter induction, task and daily safety briefings, on-the-job training, coaching and compliance with our “12 Golden Rules” of health safety…. Its implementation has significantly improved our safety performance levels.

WORKING SAFELY

Our construction sites organization is based on the implementation of mandatory process of establishing a Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and a structured approach to safety integrating the identification and the sharing of the risks at all stages of projects, from design to construction and handover. Our step towards “building in safety” incorporate the identification of risks through RAMS and their mitigation at all phases. Our safety procedure sets out the four key stages of our operations: at the preparation stage (the implementation procedure); during construction stage through  the “Pre-Task” briefing, (a safety review before a task begins); the risk assessment (a toolbox) and during the works implementation phase with close call and good practice report.

NUTURING A CULTURE OF PROACTIVE ACCIDENT PREVENTION

We continually improve our safety culture through the provision of training to all our internal staff, and through group participatory events such as: our Safety Week, annual convention, our safety challenge and the “Trophee REX” award. To grow our safety culture, through which we monitor progress, we particularly rely on our managers, who attend training courses on “Managing Safety” and “Organizational and Human Factors”.

COLLECTIVE AND PERSONAL PROTECTION MEASURES

We implement all collective protection methods to ensure that the work environments we create are safe and to protect the health of our staff: pedestrian and haul roads segregation to work areas are marked out, prevention procedure for musculoskeletal disorder (MSD), tools being to prevent difficult working conditions… We provide to every employee high standard personal protective equipment as a non-negotiable line of protection.

VINCI Construction Terrassement is proud to be the first company in its industry to have obtained the triple certification in quality (ISO 9001), Environment (ISO 14001) and Security (BS 8800). Strongly involved in these different areas, we are recognized for our professionalism and for the quality of our work, which enable us to constantly evolve.

We implement adapted social integration measures that may, depending on the case, lead to permanent hiring. In addition, the VINCI Foundation for the City supports projects that provide a solution for difficult social or professional integration of disadvantaged people, with sponsorships and patronage at the heart of the territories, at national or international level.

TO DIALOGUE, UNDERSTAND, HELP

For each construction site, we engage with the inhabitants and the local elected officials to guarantee safety and reduce the inconvenience felt by residents during the work. In addition to all these measures, we are committed to acting as a responsible employer, guaranteeing opportunities for all or moreover encouraging employees’ civic engagem
